The "it" in the title is VHS. There are some movies that are only available on VHS and not DVD. Which is better for playing VHS tapes, LCD or Plasma? Are the black bars that are displayed on the sides of a widescreen Plasma applicable for burn-in? Thanks.

It doesn't really matter what type of flat panel you have, the picture quality from a VHS will always improve regardless of the TV when you use the A/V inputs instead of the coaxial., although it won't be as clear as the images from a DVD player the improvement using the A/V inputs will be notice.
Unfortunately The sidebars withing time will cause image retention on both technologies. These types of image retention are Phosphor burn-in on Plasmas and uneven light trasmission on LCDs {bar areas will be darker than the center.}
