I just bought the Sony KF-50WE610 and im not happy with the picture, everything seems pixelated. I have a Direct TV receiver (not HDTV) connected via an S-Video cable, my receiver does not have composite connections, so im using the S-Video. I have a PS2 connected via composite cable and the games also seem pixelated. I really notice the pixelation if there are words on the screen, they look horrible. Does anyone have any ideas why im getting this ? Is this bad video quality a fact of life since I don't have a HDTV receiver ? I would still have the same problems if I do have a HDTV receiver and the channel is not being broadcasted in HDTV right ?
Yes, anything that is not a high quality signal like HD or a DVD will look substandard. It's just a fact of life that the more you blow up a picture that doesn't have a high level of detail the crappier it will look. Kind of like taking a picture of something using a 1.0 megapixel digital camera and a 4.0 megapixel. You can't blow up the 1.0 megapixel too far because the detail isn't there. My direct tv picture and gamecube also look pretty crappy on my 50WE610. But DVDs look awesome. I'm watching for a good deal on VOOM! Broadcast stations will also slowly but surely turn to HD signals. I'm also crossing my fingers that the Playstation 3 will be a HD unit.
