I will not be upgrading my DirecTV reciever to HD for a while, so I am hoping to take advantage of the HDTV when we watch DVD's on it.

What kind/type of DVD Player would best match the HD capabilities of the Samsung R4667 DLP TV?

What features, connections, etc... should I be looking for?

Any and all help appreciated!

dvd players can not play HD....the dvd player will not effect quality...all the do is play the dvd which is where the quality is controlled...the compression used to create the dvd...which you will obviously have no control over...regardless dvds are dvds and they only support sd video...so weather you have a 100inch hd plasma tv or a 13inch crt tv the image quality is going to be pretty much the same...currentyl sony and others are working on a new disc to replace dvds that will support HD video. most known is sonys "blu ray" which is still aways off...although jvc did just come out with this http://pro.jvc.com/prof/attributes/features.jsp?model_id=MDL101546 the worlds first dvd player to be capable of playing HD...discs can be encoded with the HDV format which is super compressed hd and it can play them but i doubt much will ever get put on on dvd with this codec since by the time this player gets well known blu ray will be out its more for proffesional use.

Any DVD player will be more than a match for your Samsung except,of course, another Samsung.
