Chris999 Unregistered guest | I don't think I have ever seen an LCD, Plasma or CRT based HTDV capable receiver that has a resolution close to the 1920 x 1080i standard. I hardly see any that are in the range of the 1280? x 768p standard. Are there any 1920 x 1080i sets out there? Are any expected in the near future? And why do you see plasma displays with resolutions of 1024 x 1024????? That sure isn't a 16:9 ratio. |
RobW Unregistered guest | ? Am I missing something here? When my kf-60we610 is set to 1080i it's not 1920x1080i? Do you mean "display correctly the first time I plug it into my computer" 1080i? 'cause I know thats screwy and requires timing adjustments. LCD & CRT set are conveiniently disclaimered as NOT computer ready! Plasma sets on the other hand are often computer ready or need simple an additional video input card. 1024x1024? those plasma sets are high end computer monitors, do you ALWAYS run the same resolution on your computer monitor? |
Chris999 Unregistered guest | RobW: "Am I missing something here? When my kf-60we610 is set to 1080i it's not 1920x1080i? " That's correct. Your set can only display a maximum of 1386 x 788 pixels. See here for verification: http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?I=15860WE610 RobW: "1024x1024? those plasma sets are high end computer monitors, do you ALWAYS run the same resolution on your computer monitor?" No, I am talking about plasma TVs sold at Circuit City, Best Buy, etc with resolutions of 1024 x 1024. These are not the low range plasma TVs which have an even lower resolution, usually something like 853 by 480 |
worst buy Unregistered guest | Chris, you're right. It will be a while (1-2 years) before most of the hdtv's being sold have resolution higher than 480p. The ad's and salespeople are being less than forthcoming with the pitiful details about the tv's being sold. |
RobW Unregistered guest | OH! I see now, my 1080i is just extrapolated from 788possible pixels (even then, aren't they only using 720?, like on a projection CRT you don't use ALL the phosphor surface for the image) What you want is the DLP 1080p that should be coming out end? of this year. |
