LGDVB418 HDMI DVD Player Audio Sync Problem

I noticed some audio sync problems with the LGDVB418 I just bought. I emailed LG and received an email stating the following:

"Our engineers are aware of audio sync issue with the LGDVB418 and are currently working a firmware update. Please contact Customer Service Department to create a case log and when the firmware update is available they will contact you."

Needless to say, the LGDVB418 is going back to Best Buy, but what should I purchase? Should I use my lowly PS2 until HD DVD players roll out later this year? I picked up the Toshiba SD-5980 yesterday and was startled at how inferior the HDMI connection picture was in comparison to the LGDVB418. According to the bench test on this site and other reviews I've read, the Toshiba was supposed to produce a better picture quality than the LG. Instead, the Toshiba was much darker and the LG was brighter and sharper. I will probably return the Toshiba, so does anybody have any recommendations on what to get or wait for? I own a Sony 30" HD Widescreen KV-30HS420 if that helps any. Ideally, I only really care about getting a crisp and bright image quality and decent sound with no audio sync problems.

Thanks.

LG now has a firmware update available. Just call them and they'll mail it to you. (Though why they don't put it on the web is beyond me.) It's solved all the sync problems I was seeing.

I just called LG customer support and they said they don't have any firmware updates for it. Should I call again?
