I just bought a dvd player so I'm quite new to the set-up. A few dvds I have will only play the background music or other sounds but none of the dialogue, whereas another dvd will play just fine.
Is there anyone "out there" that can help me with this problem?
Perhaps there is a setting that says you have a center channel when in fact you don't? Or maybe your center channel is not configured correctly in your recievers setups? Just a couple ideas I have. Good luck.

I have a JVC DVD player (CA-MXDVA9) which worked fine for 18 months. Now the audio does not work despite properly adjusting all the settings. The problem also remains when playing tapes and AF/FM radio. Microphone function is inoperable as well. What could be the cause?? Thanks for any troubleshooting assistance!
I am also having a problem with DVD sound sync. I bought a low-end DVD player about 6 months ago. It plays locally produced DVDs movie discs fine. Just recently I purchased a DVD produced by the BBC in the UK and the sound is like about a second behind the picture. Same with an imported Laurel & Hardy movie disc I just tried. Cannot find any settings in the DVD player to adjust this. Any advice would be appreciated.
