I have the cable company coming tomorrow to install a CC on my plasma. However, I do have a question on HDTV viewing considering I've read conflicting information.
I've read that channels that are indeed in HD are all in 16:9 format? Is this true? I don't think it is personally.
I have Comcast cable in the Miami, FL area. How would I know which HD channels are in 16:9 and 4:3?
Mike, Channels like HBOHD, ShowtimeHD, Local broadcast HD, and the like..do from time to time put out an SD picture instead of HD. You will know when you are not seeing a true HD picture when you see black bars on the sides of your widescreen picture. The black bars are embedded into the broadcast to keep the 4:3 picture centered on your screen. Some channels do upconversion of analog or SD to 16:9 and you'll notice the picture lacks the clarity of true HD. Hope this helps.
