We're having quite the time figuring out what is up with the set...wish I knew the exact model number for you all. We have our cable on Video 2, and for some reason, it is stuck on mute with a MUTE word on the top center of the screen that blinks when manipulating the DVD-r remote, but stays static when doing much on the TV remote.
Trying to unfreeze the mute with either the Comcast DVD-r remote or the TV remote does not affect anything...you'll see the Volume number go up and down, or see another MUTE word appear in the middle of the screen.
What do you all think might be wrong?

The "MUTE" bug is well known by some. You must program the mute function to your Comcast supplied remote as described below:
Here is the exact procedure to program a mute function to the remote.
1) Press the "Cable" button at the top of the remote to put it into Cable Box control mode. 2) Press and hold the "Setup" button until the "Cable" button blinks twice. 3) Type in the code 994. The "Cable" button will blink twice 4) Press (do not hold) the "Setup" button 5) Type in the 00141 (for Mute). 6) Press the mute button on the remote.
Now you will be able to un-mute (Is that a real word???).
