Ok, this may seem like a weird question, but does anyone know.... if I have a paid and functioning cable box in SC, would it work to recieve the same channels if I were to hook it up in NC? The service is through time warner

If it's just an analog converter yes, if it's digital no.

Aloha
IM now renting a cable box from Oceanic Time Warner Cable here in Hawaii. My question is can I purchase a new box and connect it with oceanic cable so I don't have to rent one from them? I need a box to receive HDTV and wonder why I can't buy my own. Right now I do subscribe to the HD package with an rental charge for the converter. I want one with HDMI but they only have HDMI available with the box with the Hard drive. I have a DVD with a Hard drive and don't need another. Any info would be helpful. Thank you for your time.

No

You can but it won't work, they have no obligation to enable your STB.
