Important !! Diamond vision warranty !!

Hi all,

I own a Diamond Vision DVDV803-03 dvd player. It is a cheap player that i bought about five months ago and it played very well until a few days ago. It just wouldn't recognize DVD's anymore (still played cd's though). I checked in the owner's manual, on page 22 we have what they call the "Limited warranty". The third paragraph states the following :

"Repair service for 90 days from the date of original purchase at no charge for labour and parts. Replacement of your defective unit with either a new, refurbished, or equivalent model at no charge for 90 days from the date of original purchase."

I figured that it was no big surprise considering the unit sold for under $50 cdn.

But here's the catch...

If we go to page 43, we have the french version of the "Limited warranty", aptly called "Garantie limitée". The very same paragraph translates as follows:

"Repair service for 90 days from the date of original purchase at no charge for labour and parts. Replacement of your defective unit with either a new, refurbished, or equivalent model at no charge for one year following the first 90 days from the date of original purchase."

Now, since I live in Canada (and so should you) and french is an official language, I can ask that the french version of the warranty be respected and thus gain 12 months of additionnal warranty !!!

Not bad huh ??
