You guys look as though you know your stuff! So here is my problem...

...I just bought 5 DVD Players off Ebay for $15!!! =) lol ( A business Venture )
Oh...by the way, they were faulty customer returns.
I was testing them out and 2 of them work, but they still have problems.

The 1st is a Digitrex Gk - 2700 , the sound is fine but the picture has a 'horizontal hold', with 3 to 3 1/2 pictures, I was wondering whether this is fixable, or I should just use the DVD player for parts...?

The 2nd is a Omni DV - 3400 , the picture seems to be excellent on the start - up screen, but it can't read discs...can I fix this, or again, should I just use it for parts.

Does anyone try DVD+R on Pansonic S97S or new Toshiba SD5980 players. I am looking for upconversion DVD player with HDMI and read a lot discusion about 4 models available from Samsung, Sony, Toshiba and Panasonic. I lean toward Panasonic S97S but it seem does not play DVD+R format. Any idea can help will be appreciated.

Panasonic purposely states that their players don't play +R even if they do. I have a Panasonic player from 1999 that plays +R. Take a disc into an electronics store and try it, I think it will play.

I am trying to display a DVD from an HP/Compaq laptop through a projector. The DVD window on the laptop displays the movie, but the window shows up blank on the projector output on screen. We do see the rest of the window, so it's not a display problem. We've tried using the S-video cable, but again get a blank window. We're using the DVD player that comes with XP, is that perhaps the problem?
