Panasonic TH-42PWD7UY Questions

The following things are nagging concerns I have about this monitor before going ahead and ordering it. Hopefully someone can help!

I have read that the warranty is not valid in Canada on these units when purchased from Tiger Direct. Is that correct?
The component connections on the bottom of the panel are all BNC style. What type of connectors did you buy to connect regular component cables?
Have you tried hooking a PC up to this monitor? I did in store and it was overscanned (I think that is the correct term as only about 70% of my laptop's screen was viewable on the Panny) Is this an easy fix? Did you worry at all about connectivity as there are substantially more connections on the consumer version of this panel including HDMI formats.

These I think are my only real concerns before taking the plunge and picking up this Plasma.

Thanks for your help.

There are other sellers than just Tiger Direct. I don't know about Canada warranty. I am buying this unit from Visual Apex which I believe is an authorized Panasonic seller.

As for inputs, I have read that you can just pick up BNC adapters at Radio Shack. I have enough inputs and I have purchased a DVI blade. I am going to also use a RCA/S video switcher, again from Radio Shack pretty cheap. The reason I am going with the Commercial rather than Consumer is that I am limited in size. The side speakers on the consumer model make it too wide. I am not planning to use it for PC conductivity so can't answer that question. You might go to the AVS forum which more discussions on these issues.

Certainly one should do their homework before purchasing and determine which model has inputs etc you need.

I spoke to Visual Apex and they told me that 4 BNC connectors are included which should cover the 3 component and one composite video inputs. In fact, just received a call and the plasma should be delivered tomorrow!

OJ, saw you did post on AVS. Again, maybe other online etailers have warranties that are honored. Check out AVS again. There are lots of threads of good etailers around. That is how I chose Visual Apex. Recommendations in AVS and a really good price.

Unfortunatly, Visual apex is in the US which would mean duties, exchange and taxes being applied to the unit.
