I have: Panasonic TH37-PWD6 (Plasma TV) Sony DVP-S335 (DVD Player) The DVD player has SCART, composite & S-Video outputs The Plasma TV has 5 BNC (RGB/Component), S-Video & PC Serial inputs. The S-video is taken up by the cable box. So I'm trying to convert my SCART to RGB. I have a converter between the two: The cable from the DVD Player to the converter is a directional SCART: http://www.hificables.co.uk/ProductDetails/mcs/ProductID/11122 The cable from the converter to the TV is a 3-pin RCA cable (with BNC adapters at the TV end) The input on the TV is set to RGB (Sync on Green) I don't have a picture at all... ...but the display does NOT say: "No Signal". Just to complicate matters, I'm in the US, so I'm using a step-up/step-down converter for my UK DVD player (which is working fine because an S-video output works perfectly) Any clues on where I'm going wrong gratefully appreciated! Cheers A. |

Do you have a Y Cb Cr connection at the back of the DVD and the Tv if so connect them using a component cable. Go to the system menu of the DVD player and Video connection make sure you change it to Y Cb Cr connection. Also change the TV input to whichever component you are hooking your DVD into. |

I got the answer in another forum: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=207793 If I took the S-Video from the cable box and hooked that up to the DVD Player, I got a picture. Someone then pointed out that this means the DVD was outputting S-Video instead of RGB (thus rendering useless the whole SCART/RGB conversion). So the trick was to hook up the S-Video and then access the DVD on-screen menu and change the output to RGB. Then unhook the S-Video and reconnect the SCART cable. Cheers A. |
