Within the last 2 months, we have had a black line running lengthwise through the screen like a pinstripe running down a cars body. Sony came out to inspect it ans the Tech said that it was a faulty screen and that sometimes that happens and you get a lemon. And that someone from Sony would call with and estimate to repair it. The cost for a faulty panel that goes bad, 3295.95. Does anyone else have this issue? And who has a lawsuit going against this issue? I would like to hop on board. There is no reason in hell that a TV that you pay for that is as much as a small car should break in 18 months and cost almost as much to repair as it does to buy it. Any help out there? |

However you can still find the LCD version of it, KDL-42XBR950 and some of the larger XBR950 plasmas. Be advised that Sony DOES NOT manufacture any of their own flat panel sets, but order them from contract manufacturers. A few months back executives from the company reveal on a public press conference that Sony was releasing inferior quality products with malice and was only "cashing-in" on the brand's popularity. This sudden revelation opened a Pandora's box of information and other "trade secrets" that were kept private from investors and the end-consumer since the late 1980's. These questionable QC issues are nothing new and there's not indication of ever stopping, not even during the current changes at Sony Japan. Recently Sony PSP owners where dissapointed to find not one or two but entire lines of dead pixels on their newly released PSP gaming units, Sony stated it won't fix them because according to them, dead pixels are common and not a manufacturing defect. So are you still thinking in getting that XBR950? Get something more reliable., and remember, not everything that's well-know is well-made. |
