I'm in the process of completely upgrading my HT system. I've decided on the Denon AVR-4806 (to be released probably in June in retail stores, at least here in Boston), a Panasonic plasma. Now I'm deciding on DVD players. I was thinking of the Denon 3910, but someone has since piqued my curiosity about the new BluRay-compatible devices. Should I go for the 3910 (approx $1500), or wait for BluRay? Anyone know when a quality BluRay DVD player will be available?

Players for blu ray will be availiable at the end of the year, but as far as quality, I don't know about that. It always takes a while for everyone to get the bugs out of things. Especially since it seems that both blu ray and hd dvd are getting rushed to market so fast. Personally I would say buy the denon, I have one, and it's fantastic, plus it's great for sacd and dvd audio too. Then wait until one clear victor of the two formats emerges, and they get all the bugs out, and prices drop, and upgrade then. Plus you'll still have a great multiformat player.
