I have tried the toshiba's 5970 and the new on and the latest Samsung h850 and can not get it to accept the signal once the disc starts playing? The dvd playeres are fine aparently... I even was able to get the samsung to play a movie (the incredible) and it was really beautiful. I had to open and close the palyer 15 time to get it to catch the signal... once it did it was great, so long as you did not change anything.... HELP... now that I have seen what the upscaling can do I need it bad!!!! Has anyone found an hdmi dvd player that words with the Sceniuim?? Can you get a very good picture with a dvd player not using the hdmi???? via component or s-video??? |
PFC5 Unregistered guest | I have the RCA HD50LPW162, and I had the same problem with the Toshiba SD-5980 output to HDMI. The Samsung HD850 is made by the exacty same OEM manufacturer as the Toshiba so it will have the same problem with HDMI. I called RCA and it is a "Known Bug" with the Toshibas inside RCA's troubleshooting group. This is the only brand that it has the problem with (or so they say). Because the Samsung HD850 is made to the same specs I figured that it would not work either. Glad you confirmed this before I exchanged for the Samsung model. I am looking at possibly getting the Oppo OPDV971H, but it has only DVI output. My DLP has only HDMI, and I am waiting word that it will not crush black or white with a DVI > HDMI adapter. I have heard some players do. Including the Samsung HD841 so I use this as only a SACD/DVD-A player. Check this link to the review of the Oppo: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/cgi-bin/shootout.cgi?function=search&articles=all &type=DVD%2BPlayer&manufacturer=0&maxprice=0&deInt=0&mpeg=0#Oppo%20DigitalOPDV97 1H%20 |

We recently got a Fry's Electronics in town, so I went out and bought the Panasonic s97s before I gave up entirely on this HDMI hook up. IT works great and flawlessly so far. I have had it a month. The only deal is that Fry's charges $100 more than you can get it for online. ANyway,,, I am very pleased. |
