This board is full of more crap than a Ponderosa buffet. EDTV is great. It's cheap. It's beautiful. It's the way to go until 2008.
Consider this: For roughly 2,3, or $4,000 less than a true HD plasma you only give up around %10 of picture quality when display HD programming. (That is when stuff is actually broadcast in HD, and 10% is barely enough to tell a difference) DVD's are made and shown in the EXACT format EDTV displays, 480p. You cannot beat an EDTV with good progressive scan DVD player for watching DVD's. Period. That is a fact. Sure, this summer HD DVD will come out, but players will start at 200-300$ and DVD's (the few that will be available) will start at $50. FOR 1 DVD!!
ED display's better regular cable than HD sets.
And as far as black levels on a plasma?? I have the brand new Hitachi 42" EDTV that can display black levels darker than the Devil's soul.
People that buy HD plasma's (in the 42" size range) or just like to rip on ED are simply people that don't understand what ED really is. The sad fact is that all of you on this board that make claims against ED are simply wrong. Sorry guys.
Also, HD plasmas do not compensate for small genitals.
