I just bought a Toshiba 20AF44 TV to replace my 20-year-old set. It works with my cable, but not either of my two DVD players (which work with my old TV). After two days of Internet searches and a visit to Radio Shack, I still cannot get it to work and am wondering if the set is defective.
I know I have the AV cables hooked up correctly. The only thing I can figure is:
This model TV won't work with my DVD players (Norcent) -- is it possible that some TVs and DVD players simply are not incompatible. One weird thing is that my TV user manual tells how to hook up a VCR but not a DVD player -- is that significant?
The TV AV receptacles (the input things) are defective
The TV remote will turn on the cable function, but not the DVD player. Still, if I turn on the DVD player manually it should work, right?
You don't tell how anything is connected. Did you set the TV on whatever input the DVD player is on? Some TVs have a setting in the menus to switch between component and composite.
