I have the Pioneer DVR 310 with which I am really pleased for VHS and Sony Hi8 etc recordings transferred onto DVD-R. However, our latest camcorder is the Hitachi DVD-Cam, which shoots onto mini DVDs, about 30 minutes worth. Normally to get these recorded digital to digital onto the 2hr DVD-Rs, there is an "i-Link" or DV in/out on the DVR. But the Hitachi DVD-Cam doesn't have "i-link" for the digital out, only 5-pin, with a 5-pin cable going to USB. So I guess the idea is to work with the files in the PC, but I just want to be able to transfer into the DVR without decrement, i.e., keeping the digital signal. I looked for 5-pin to i-Link but so far no luck. I could also just play the mini DVDs in another DVD player but my player has no digital out at all.
