I quote "Cablevision said it will shut down its VOOM high definition satellite TV service, having failed to reach an agreement to sell the business to Chairman Charles Dolan, who would have run it as a private company. Customers will continue to receive the service for at least 30 days." Just thought those of you who are subscribers might want to know, if you hadn't already been informed. |

Personally I'd rather see the 2nd coming of Voom than the Rapture since I shorted Cablevision stock, the ressurection of VOOM would be sure to send their stock price plummeting but I'm not holding my breath. xvxvxvx |

Dish will probably do the same as DirecTV...maybe the'll offer all of Voom's content to their subscribers. Comcast currently has the best offering for HD with their bargain $10/month HD DVR and a pretty good offering of content, including all your local channels in HD...a must have IMO. They'll be adding new channels as well over time. And with their new partnership with Tivo, Comcast will have an HD Tivo that has no competition because it's so superior to all other DVR's. So, it really doesn't matter that Voom is going away because the rest of the industry will soon be caught up to where Voom was trying to go. Personally, without an HD DVR available, Voom was a loser before it even started. Sorry Voom, atleast you lit a fire under everyone else's A$$ to get more HD going! |
