Sony KDF - 50" vs. 55" ??

The salesperson said that the 55" version had a built in feature that converts all analog signals to near HD quality. Has anyone experienced this signal "conversion" feature of the 55" and is it worth the extra money? Thanks!

Internally, the 50WE655 and 55WF655 are nearly identical. Other than size the main difference is the lamp. The 55 has a brigher 132W lamp. The 50's lamp is 100W.
