Sometimes a program (not copyright protected) I've recorded to HDD will not burn to DVD. The program seems to record to HDD properly (correct program length, not error message). But when I try to burn to DVD, the E80 starts to burn, then I get an error message to the effect of "burn failure."
Thinking it may be a bad blank DVD, I've tried to record it to another blank disc. No success.
This problem seems to arise only when I've enabled "high speed burning" and try to burn in the high speed mode. If I burn it in real-time (whether SP or LP), I don't get the error.
Any ideas as to the cause?? Do I have a defective hard drive??
I haven't ruled out a "bad spot" on the HDD. Any suggestions about how to rule out a "bad spot"???
I have considered formatting the HDD. Would this solve the problem.
Thanks for reading this post, and any suggestions anyone may have.

It is almost certainly the brand of blanks you are using. Pannys are notorious when it comes to rejecting media. Your hard drive is working fine. I have found Maxell, Sony and Taio Yuden (Japan not Taiwan) work the best (the panny discs are rebadged Taio Yuden discs).
