Damiel Unregistered guest | OK, I thought I had understood the differences in DVI cables but apparently I have not. I bought a Denon 1910 DVD player with a DVI-D output plug. I thought I could use any DVI cable to plug it to my Sharp Aquos LC-32G4U that has a DVI-I plug. So, I ordered a "DVI" Monster cable from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00007LAYN Unfortunately, no signal. Yes, I cycled through its 4 modes (no DVI, 480, 720 and 1080). One note, the photo on Amazon is inaccurate; the cable they sent over is actually the kind with a gap in the teeth on both ends. OK, if the Denon has a "DVI-D Out (HDCP)" plug and my Aquos has a "DVI-I" input plug - what kind of cable should I get? Could you state the official name of the cable and describe what each end's pins should be? Thanks, D. |
Dane Unregistered guest | Damiel, did you figure it out as I am buying these same components tomorrow but am first trying to figure out if it can be connected as the HDMI input will be going to my new cable box. |

RobertPMG Unregistered guest | Just called Sharp support (which was great by the way!) because I thought the tv wasn't working with my computer. It turns out that I'm using DVI-D with my 6800 video card. The TV wants DVI-I though with the analog (4 pins around the flat ground pin). I'm ordering a true dvi-i cable now. |
Andy Buck Unregistered guest | For a DVI-D to DVI-I connection you can use either a DVI-I or a DVI-D cable, you cannot use a DVI-A cable. |
