(I am reposting this question because it does seem to made it here last night) --------------------------- So, it is to my understanding that the Panasonic DVD Recorder does this:
If I have a recording done in the XP mode and each episodes are 45 minutes each. And I want to put both episodes on one 2 hour DVD disc, I have two choices:
1. Dub the two 45 minute XP recordings onto a disc in the SP mode which will total 1 & a half hours leaving a half hour left of unrecorded space.
-or-
2. Dub the two 45 minute XP recordings onto a disc in the FR mode which will fill the disc using a speed that is in between the SP & XP mode-----resulting in slightly better quality than the SP mode idea in #1 above.
The thing is----how can I tell statistic-wise? Is it a better bit-rate? Frames-per second? Compression? What?
Any info you know on this would be helpful.
I dubbed 2 episodes of a 45 minute TV series using the method I mention in #2 above. But truthfully it's hard to tell whether the results are better visually.
I was hoping someone could confirm any statistics or info from their experiences.
From all the "Dubbing" I've done the past few weeks, it seems like the "FR" mode produces the best quality when dubbing two 45 minute episodes on DVD. Instead of filling up an hour & a half worth of disc space, it fills up the whole entire 2 hours & somehow the quality seems to be slightly better.
Still not sure of any statistics, just judging from eye sight & sound.
