Hi, I'm new here and getting a bit burned out looking at HDTVs (the more I learn the more complicated it gets), so now I'm looking for opinions. I have narrowed my new HDTV choices down to 2. I think...
The Mitsubishi 48" WS-48515 has a built-in tuner and FireWire connections. It only supports 480i/p and 1080i input.
The Hitachi 46" 46F510 is monitor only, but the inputs support 520p, 720p and 1080i. It is also about $200 less.
What are your thoughts? Are the additional input capabilities of the Hitachi useful or not something to worry about? Is the tuner in the Mitsubishi worthwhile or not as good as what I could get from Dish/Directv? I have not chosen a provider yet, and I think at this time the only HD over the air broadcasts in my area are on PBS, although I think most are broadcasting digital.
I was also looking at a Sony 42" LCD RP but the problems reported here scared me away.
OK, after some more research I understand a little better. The Hitachi only actually displays in 540p or 1080i, every input is converted to one of those.
The Mitsubishi only displays in 1080i. Is this a significant limitation? Would it struggle with say a 720p input?
