I'm an ex-DTVer who hasn't done anything since my P3 died.
I've just started looking at FTA receivers and am wondering which one between the Pantec, Pansat and Fortec people would recommend.
One dealer I went to highly recommended the Pantec as it could take Pansat or Fortec firmware so is much more flexible.
One other question - do people experience intermittent freezing when watching Dish on FTA receivers? My cousing has a Pansat and says he does - just wondering if that was normal or not.

Pansat is the most popular with files and sites everywhere, but your choice..no great advantages/or disadvantages, basically all the same like cars...some prefer Ford over Chevy or GM..freezing is not a common occurence, except in bad weather, and even then its usually just a very short interuption

Allan B- Good advice on the Pantec being compatible with either Fortec or Pansat software.
I personally would not get FTA, until NAG2 has a fix. Why have another reciver to add to your DTV pile, unless your in need of TV even if it lasts 6 months. Ill do some research on the Pantec. Ill get FTA but after the fix, even if it costs more.

Nag2 has been compromised...read some of my other posts here..and the pansat5000 has, and the other pansats can be be modded for Nag2..
So I take it most channels now have Nag1 and Nag2? When will they be dropping Nag1? Does it require new cards to be sent out to subscribers or can they update the card/receiver thru the stream?
