Help DvdR to Dvd to Vcr to DirectTV to TV

I need a help figuring all this out. Need to connect the Tv, Direct Tv receiver, VCR, Dvd player and Dvd Recorder. I have a philips dvd recorder and when I think I have it all hooked up correctly, it says NO SIGNAL.
