Philips 42pf9966 ambilight plasma

regarding Philips quality control:

I have a plasma 42 pf9966...I was blown away by this unit in best buy and bought it on the internet for under 4000...It has HD resolution and the HD picture is spectacular (especially with the ambilight). I was concerned about the analog pictures through their inboard tuner...But they have done a great job with this input as well using line double "movie" mode it is a great picture...

That said it is sad that I report that their quality control is pitiful....

2 months ago I recieved a brand new unit...It had 2 verticle lines of resolution that were damaged and locked on one color...Monitor Outlet on the internet got this replaced (Monitor Outlet is top notch)..But the second uniyt arived and it worked for 3 das and then would not power up...

With reluctance I went the repair route,,, and the techs arived and tried replacing the Power unit and did not work....

Parts were ardered and basically they replaced EVERYTHING inside the plasma display keeping only the bezel from the original unit...the parts took 2 weeks to order and arrived AT MY HOUSE ...one was on a shipping pallet and was gigantic (the PDP itself)this alone was a huge inconvenience as it took up huge amounts of space...

with 2 weeks elapsing between fixes they (the techs) arrived and put together an entire plasma display in my living room....

it worked for 2 hours and then went absolutly haywire...double images ...upside down pictures....

You can imagine my disbelief 2 months later I still don't have a working unit...

I call the company and demand either my money back or a new unit....they tell me it is probably "the small signal board" and they order that which will probably take another week...and the guy tells me that "they have gotten bad parts from the warehouse before"....

This has been one of the worst experiences as a consumer in my life and I sadly will never again buy ANYTHING from Philips.

Ahhhh well such is life. I have this one, and it has worked perfectly for about 6 months, so you must have got a dud or something.
