Having extensively used this model for seven months I can only agree wholeheartedly with this review:

There should still be a few around at low prices with the release of 3910 and 2910. If the newer digital connections aren't that important this player should be on your list of potentials.

Where does the new 2910 lie on the quality spectrum (audio AND video) relative to the 2900 and 2200? Based on the model no. (superficial I realize), and more importantly the higher video specs, I'd have guessed the 2910 is superior to the 2900, but based on the lower price of the 2910 (compared to the 2900 when first released), and the number of conflicting posts I've seen around, I'm not sure what to think.

Here in Aus the 3910 is selling for the same price as the 2900 was ($1999) and the 2910 similar to the 2200 at $1299. As to quality comparison I would not know but I have been told that the 2900 is better for the hi-rez formats - why that would be (if true) is anyone's guess.

A good option in the 3910 is the choice of crossover values for bass management instead of the fixed 80hz - although that is fine for my speakers.

I've seen the the 2900 here going for $1200 on run-out specials.

The 2910 is supposedly getting a firmware update to fix some picture quality issues.
