Panasonic DMRE55S recorder won't play DTS audio DVDs

My Panasonic recorder won't play DVDs with DTS audio but it plays Dolby 5.1 with no problem. I have set it to bitstream for both but only the Dolby 5.1 plays. Any reason why?
Hi I am really very sad that my panasonic SCDK 20 is unable to decode DTS format, can anyone help me and tell me how can I play DTS format using this system..(any decoders where I can attach to this existing system?) PLEASE HELP
