SAMMY FANATIC Unregistered guest | I just got my Sammy HLP5063W. DVD expericnec has been incredible with my toshiba HDMI player. My question is: contrary to my expectations, however - the black bars still exist above/below the picture for wide screen pictures. Is it supposed to be like this?? Anyway to eliminate this at all?? Thanks for the great forum. You guys have been very help ful |
d & f Unregistered guest | yes...if you buy a widescreen dvd you will still see the black bars on both top & bottom of your screen. |

TommyV Unregistered guest | Also with some DVD players, even with 2.35:1 movies, you can stretch the picture to fill the entire screen. You will lose a little on the sides though. |
gilly Unregistered guest | SAM FAN, widescreen tvs have a ratio of 16:9, most movies have even wider ratios so you will still have black bars at the top and bottom, just not as large as they would be on a standard tv. |
