Great news for LCoS TV owners! Mike Holmes, VP, JVC Display Division informed the consumer-electronics press that imaging devices in LCD rear projection have only 15,000-hour lifespan! According to JVC, LCD rear-projection imaging devices have a 15,000-hour life, due to the presence of a polyamide organic-based alignment layer, while HD D-ILA-based imagers, with an inorganic alignment layer, have a life expectancy of 100,000 hours. These are the same LCD chips that are supplied by Epson (Panasonic & Hitachi both use Epson LCD microdisplays) and Sony. The picture of the LCD products would yellow at 15,000 hours, due to reduction of output in the blue channel because of degradation of the LCD microdisplays. Sony declined comment on JVC's claim. You can find this article in the Sep/Oct issue of "The Perfect Vision" magazine.

Maybe President Kerry can iron out all the bugs in these new HDTV devices.

If Kerry becomes President you will have a great deal more to worry about than HDTV.
