Roger Thelwell Unregistered guest | the folowing codes will turn your player into what is called "region-free". If you require the player to be a single region, for example region 1, then simply repeat the process and replace the "0" with a "1". This may be required if you have trouble playing DVDs purchased from outside the UK that have Region Code Enhancement technology on them. These titles are in a minority and you will find a substantial amount of titles will play without the need to change region. Our recommendation is that you set the player to region 0 and change to a specific region when the need arises. Press system menu on remote control Go to preference settings Press 1,3,5,5,6,6 Press 0 Press system menu on remote to exit |

m_lenny Unregistered guest | I'm kicking myself here. I got a DVP-NS355 player last week and got a URC-7562 One-For-All from Argos. Managed to region-free the player fine, and returned the remote to Argos as job done. Then the DVD player went dead, so I got a replacement player and bought another URC-7562 from Argos to repeat the process. Now this remote does not act the same way and I can't region-free the player!! Previously, after each code was typed, the DVD button would flash twice to signal the code sent. I would then repeat the process with the next code. Now, nothing happens on the last digit. If I just carry on and press and hold the Magic button, the DVD button will only light up and will not blink unless the Magic button is released and held again. Any ideas what might be going on with this remote? Any way to get it to work as the one last week did? |

Perhaps someone else can fathom it out & post here PRECISE instructions on how to do it. |

Unregistered guest | Sony DVP NS-355 I just burned a DVDR NTSC and the picture played black and white , this dvd player is region free Do this eject discs so none are inserted switch off, then on as normal Press Display for the menu press Screen setup select Line change this to RGB if u have a scart lead press display to exit , this should now play NTSC dvds I havent tried other regions but hopefully it will play them hope this works for U's :-) |

AYFC_ Simon Unregistered guest | I got a DVP-NS355 player last week and got a URC-7562 One-For-All from Argos Was having the same problems as m_lenny I think i was just doing it wrong some how,or the instructions on how to do it were'nt very clear i now have got mine region free by using the method below,i hope this helps prepare (this makes sure your remote is configured for your sony DVD player): 1. select dvd device on remote 2. hold magic button for double blink 3. enter device code 0533 Now we need to program buttons A-E with the following codes, read below for instructions: A - 00189 B - 00255 C - 00095 D - 00221 E - 00079 This is how you program those numbers: 1. Hold magic button until double blink 2. Press 994. 3. Press magic (don't hold). 4. Enter 5 digit code from above. 5. Press button (A-E) where to program it. 6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 for all keys. That works, but more information on macros is included in the one4all manual for you particular model. Have a go: 1. Remove disk, put player on standby. 2. Press A,B,C,D,E - SUCCESS is displayed and player starts up. 3. Press A,B,C,D,E - player shuts down and BINGO! |

Unregistered guest | The Posts from David Chan and AYFC_Simon are showing a discrepancy in the codes by one digit. Perhaps AYFC has dropped the end digit and added a leading zero??? Hope that helps. the dvdcodes.net site referred to does warn against using these methods for this reason, although £20 seems quite steep for what is a simple thing to do. I've just received my URC-7562 ( £4.99 on ebay  ), and had no luck using the exact procedures described above (by Jason_UK and AYFC_Simon). However, reading the URC-7562 manual, it became clear that it only wanted 3-digit codes programming. So, I tried again without the two leading zeros on each code, and it worked fine. I then looked back at this thread and realised that I had used the exact procedure described by david chan. |

Anonymous | I have a Sony NS330 dvd player. For some reason when I play a burned DVD I can't select different viewing angles. It just comes up with the normal TV angle and I'd like to be able to select widescreen. I'm not the most technically minded person (!) but I've pressed the button on the remote which is supposed to toggle through the different screen angles but it only comes up with a number 1 (regular TV screen) and won't toggle through any other options. Any clues on how to remedy this? Thanks. |

JohnRA Unregistered guest | I can confirm that Jason_UK's NS355 region free method works. It is a little fiddly and I got it wrong the first time, but on the second attempt it worked. NTSC films were initially black and white but I set the video out to RGB and that fixed that. Also the default video mode is widescreen so I had to change that to 4:3. |

I used a URC-7562 One for All remote. I'd nearly given up but this works, set up the remote for the player first.... 1. select dvd device on remote 2. hold magic button for double blink 3. enter device code 0533 Then set about unlocking it... First select dvd on the remote. 1. Press and hold magic button until dvd button on remote flashes twice 2. Enter 994 3. Press magic button (don't press and hold) 4. Enter 1891 (after the fourth digit is entered the DVD light will flash again) 5. repeat steps 1-4, but on step 4 enter 2552 6. repeat steps 1-4, but on step 4 enter 0953 7. repeat steps 1-4, but on step 4 enter 2214 8. repeat steps 1-4, but on step 4 enter 0795 9. If it isn't already put player on standby, with your normal remote if you like, doesn't matter. 10. On the one4all, Press 1,2,3,4,5, (success will be displayed on dvd) 11. Press 1,2,3,4,5, again and the player goes into standby 12. Chuck a disc in and it should work fine. Please note mine was a region 2 UK player and I wanted to be able to play some Region 1 discs, I don't know about other regions but these just work now. Good luck PS. The other methods using macros programmed onto the A,B,C,D,E buttons just didn;t seem to work at all for me and I'd ignored this method before as I couldn't understand how it would work but it certainly did. |

Unregistered guest | Just sucessfully made my DVP-NS355 player a multiregion with a URC-7562 One-For-All 6 way using AYFC_Simon 's method. Thanks for that. Unfortunately I get the black and white playback problem when playing burned DVD's, and bought Region 1 and Region 3 disks. I've put a fully connected Scart lead on and also tried the line change to RGB solution above. Nothing changes it. Feels like throwing good money after bad now. Any suggestions/shoulder to cry on appreciated. |

Unregistered guest | Well theres plenty of info on this thread on de-regioning and getting rid of the black & white view you get when a PAL image is shown on NTSC or vice versa - the codes should help on the region and if you can't get a colour picture no matter what you try then search e-bay for a PAL to NTSC converter. |

This player only outputs NTSC when playing a region 1 (or 3) disk. It doesn't covert to PAL. Most TVs will convert this for you. Check your TV settings. However my TV doesn't, so buying a new TV to use a cheap DVD player was out of the question. I took the DVD player back and got a credit note. If you have this problem, I suggest you take the player back too and try with another model. |

Harith- UK Unregistered guest | Hi guys I followed the instructions to unlocking the NS355 posted by Jason_UK and SUCCESS was displayed on the screen, but it hasn't solved the problem. Whenever I put ANY disc into the player I get the message CANNOT PLAY. Does anybody have any idea what the problem might be? Thanks |

My problem is that I can't even find anywhere to buy this remote...will newer models from the same manufacturer work or is it necessary to get the URC-7562 model? macus Unregistered guest | there have been a couple of requests for codes/steps for the dvp-ns32 using the original remote, but there are no responses. is it impossible to change the codes with the original remote? can it be done with a palm pilot? i am in zone 2 and would like to view DVDs from zone 1. Marsellus Unregistered guest | All you out there with a Region 2 coded DVP-NS430, beware! Your player may not tell you that your hacking method was succesful! Yet you might have succeded but you don't know anything about it! Here's my case. I almost went mad because none of the procedures i read here seemed to work. First I used a Thomson one-for-all handset and programmed all the codes... pressed 12345 and nothing happened. I did this several times just to be sure that I did nothing wrong. But I thought I did. Then I tried the TVRemote.exe-Sony.ccf method with my Ipaq (the 1122334455 and the 12345 method, too)... nothing happened after several tries. And then when I was completely desperate and surfed the web for a solution I found So good luck everybody, don't give up and don't wait for "SUCCESS" it may never show up. |

I've read over a lot of posts on the internet and found a lot of different options. I can get into the service menu (Return + Clear + Power) but I dont know how to change anything through there or if that is even possible. Is there a way to unlock it without purchasing anything extra or is that just the best and easiest thing to do? If anyone with the DVP-NS325 has had any luck let me know what you did exactly. I have a SONY DVP-NS430 and I used a URC-7562 One for All remote to unlock it following these instructions. Many Thanks. 1. select dvd device on remote 2. hold magic button for double blink 3. enter device code 0533 Then set about unlocking it... First select dvd on the remote. 1. Press and hold magic button until dvd button on remote flashes twice 2. Enter 994 3. Press magic button (don't press and hold) 4. Enter 1891 (after the fourth digit is entered the DVD light will flash again) 5. repeat steps 1-4, but on step 4 enter 2552 6. repeat steps 1-4, but on step 4 enter 0953 7. repeat steps 1-4, but on step 4 enter 2214 8. repeat steps 1-4, but on step 4 enter 0795 9. If it isn't already put player on standby, with your normal remote if you like, doesn't matter. 10. On the one4all, Press 1,2,3,4,5, (success will be displayed on dvd) 11. Press 1,2,3,4,5, again and the player goes into standby 12. Chuck a disc in and it should work fine. Please note mine was a region 2 UK player and I wanted to be able to play some Region 1 discs, I don't know about other regions but these just work now. Good luck |

NOR can you mod them with their own remote, you need to perform the OFA hack, a PDA hack, or use a chipped remote from a dealer such as www.multiregionupgrades.com And just because a R2 model says its PAL/NTSC, that does not mean it will play Region 1 discs! Region 2 covers Europe/UK (PAL) and Japan (NTSC). nothing else. You have to mod it first. Thats why NTSC only R1 models cannot be modded,t hey don`t have any PAL video support. |

I purchased this expensive DVD player recorder for my computer, my little girl wanted to watch a cartoon DVD that was sent to here from Japan and it only played on my computer. Now my DVD only plays region 2 DVD's. What is wrong doesn't Japan and the U.S. get along with each other. I am extremely annoyed at the system that does this kind of thing, especially without warning you first. Now my DVD drive is completely locked up. Does anyone know the cure?
