Unregistered guest | Yesterday I got my second Samsung SIR-TS360, took the first back because the programming would blip off for a second and return, mostly with satillite reception but sometimes with off air reception. The new box seems to be starting to do the same. This problem affects audio also which is handled through a Sony home theatre reciever. The problem does not happen on my older Direct TV receiver. Any ideas where the problem lies? Add Your Message Here |

Earlier this week all SAT channels "not authorized... call DirectTV...". I called them, they know something is wrong with the card/receiver and have me push reset button. I works now but the flicker is still there. Stewart |

They sent me a new card, installed it yesterday within 5 minutes had the same problem. I then hooked it up to another receiver using a different connect type and the problem still occurs. I check the receiver for updates and it show that it received an update Oct 5 2004, which is around the time the problem started. |
godawgs Unregistered guest | There are a lot of reports on the www.avsforum.com of people having problems since the firmware update. DirecTV acklowledges this and people have been told DirecTV will be pushing out another firmware update (to fix the problems) sometime this coming week. |
New member Username: UtundraPost Number: 2 Registered: Aug-04 | Problem returned after talking to Samsung. Samsung is replacing the receiver; should be here next week. And I am now getting Call DirecTV x745 on every channel every hour or so after resetting the Samsung receiver. Hopefully between whatever DirecTV pushes, a new Samsung receiver, and firmware upgrade for the Mitsubishi WD-52525 my stuff will be back to normal. |
New member Username: FjohnsonPost Number: 1 Registered: Oct-04 | Sounds like I'm having the same problem that many others are having with Directv and samsung ts360. I have to reboot with the 745 message quite often. I am confused about something. Samsung is sending me a new receiver that supposedly has new software to combat this problem. But others have said to hold on to the receiver I have until the firmware updates coming this week. Which is it? Appreciate any more information on this aggravating problem. |
Craig M. Unregistered guest | I just purchased the TS360 and have had the same problems as listed above. I am getting the call cust. svc at x745 about every 8 hours and the picture blips out about every 30 - 45 minutes. |
New member Username: UtundraPost Number: 3 Registered: Aug-04 | Felicia, I wish I knew the definitive answer. My plan is to get the new Samsung receiver after it arrives at the UPS store. Hopefully that will cure the flicker problems. And it wont't have the firmware upgrade that was pushed by DirecTV on October 5. Though I am not sure if it will get the October 5 upgrade after it is plugged in. Knowing what I know now I would probably wait to get a new receiver. Too late for me... |
New member Username: SkinratPost Number: 9 Registered: Sep-04 | I've had the Samsung receiver with the same problems for a week now, Direct Tv has sent a new access card, but the problem still exists. They are now sending a new receiver..I was told by Direct that the problem exists with the receiver and not from their downloads, but who knows...I'll try this receiver later this week. They also couldn't tell me which receiver I would be receiving which I think is B.S. Prolly will get another Samsung with the same issues.... |
Alan-DirectTV Problem Unregistered guest | I am on my second receiver SAMSUNG. I found that if I run a fan on the unit it is ok. I suspect the processor is generating excess heat after receiving the update from DirectTV. |
Unregistered guest | This is DEFINITELY a software issue. My receiver started having problems last Thursday, the day the software patch was received by my unit. Today the problems have stopped. I checked the installation menu, and sure enough a new software patch was installed this afternoon. Poof! problem solved. Hopefully DTV learned something from this and it will not happen again? |
New member Username: FjohnsonPost Number: 2 Registered: Oct-04 | Well here is the latest BS from Samsung and/or Directv. I called and talked to a tech at Samsung and he said that it was definitely the software update from Directv that screwed up the receiver. He told me not to change out the receiver since that wouldn't help anything and to wait for the new update which Samsung is working on now. Hopefully it will be out next week. I love that they are both blaming each other for the problem. We'll see how it all turns out. I haven't tried the fan thing yet. I'll try anything while I'm waiting for the miracle update. |
New member Username: UtundraPost Number: 5 Registered: Aug-04 | I did not have any problems last night. A new software update, 1.2.16, sent by DirecTV on 10/15/04 seems to have cured it. Meanwhile Samsung was supposed to be sending me a new receiver that appears to be unecessary now. |
New member Username: FjohnsonPost Number: 3 Registered: Oct-04 | Stewart, same here. I just checked out my tv this morning after your message and it seems to be fixed. My update was sent at 2:00 this morning. Guess I won't need that new receiver either. |
New member Username: SkinratPost Number: 10 Registered: Sep-04 | I've had my second Sammy receiver now for two days and I've had zero problems. After the installation of this receiver a software update was d/led to it from Direct Tv, version 1.2.16...hopefully this will last more than one week! |
New member Username: JefflobyPost Number: 2 Registered: Oct-04 | I don't have a flicker but my screen will stay black for about 3-4 seconds when I change channels. I have a samsung t360 & a samsung hlp4663. I have the newest update this started about 2 days ago. Just got the new software update today 16th. any suggestions. I have a dvi connection between the two. Both the receiver and tv are 1 week old. |

Channel Delay Unregistered guest | Jeff, I used to have the same issues with switching channels and having a delay. The delay usually was caused when switching between HD and Non HD channels. I have solved the problem by changing the resolution setting. Since your TV will always have to up/down convert a signal, leave the resolution setting on either the 720p or 1080i setting. Your Samsung should not delay between channels. I have my receiver running a DVI to my plasma screen. I have the resolution set at 720p and when I switch from an HD to Non HD, I do not have a problem with delay. Since the receiver does not have to switch from DVI to cable, component, etc., there is no longer a delay. I run both the Digital and HD from the receiver, via DVI into my screen. |

DClift1 Unregistered guest | I have the same problem and I am on my second Samsung receiver. I called Directv today but they said that the patch will be available exactly two weeks from today. Is this right? How can I check my receiver to see if I did receive the patch just in case I receive it sooner. Thanks for your help. Dave |
New member Username: UtundraPost Number: 7 Registered: Aug-04 | Goto Menu, Setup, System, System Upgrades, Upgrade Information or Past Upgrades. The latest I know is 1.2.16. Hope this helps. |
DClift1 Unregistered guest | Stewart, Thanks for the help on that...I went there to upgrade information and it says that the 1.2.16 failed. That happened at 4:30 so do you happen to know when it might try again? Thanks again. Dave |
New member Username: UtundraPost Number: 8 Registered: Aug-04 | Dave, I am not sure how the process works. You might try unplugging the power cord on the receiver for a few minutes then plugging it in again. Maybe that will trigger a re-install. Just a thought though, but it can't hurt. Good Luck |
DClift1 Unregistered guest | Hey Stewart, I got home from work today and turned on the TV and there was another message saying that it tried installing the 1.2.16 and it was unsuccessful. So twice it has failed. They have been sending it at exactly 4:29pm on both days. I will go ahead and unplug it and see what happens. I just can't figure out why it's not being able to install it. Thanks for the feedback Stewart, Dave |

Unregistered guest | Success! I was ready to take unit #4 back and forget about it. I rearranged the unit in the stack of components to the top to allow more ventilation. It works fine. No picture dropouts. It has been working for a week. Never had any 745 problems with this unit. Try well ventilated position. |
