Help me you guyz! Trying to decide on going with a Loewe 55 Articos or something less pricey like the Samsung HL P5685W. Are new improved models about to launch? Can any of you de mystify me on the HD2 or 2+ or was it HD7? Also what does a color wheel do & what should I look for? All suggestions welcome & I'm not really tied to a DLP, just heard that the plasmas burn & the LCDs are smallish.

I'm no expert, but have a Samsung HLP4663W that is awesome! The HLP's are 3rd generation sets from Samsung that supposedly fixed the noisy color wheel problem some were experiencing. There are new "improved" models coming out every year with most brands -- kinda like the ol' computer race. But I like the DLP's over the Plasma and LCD.
HD3 Generation: 3rd Chip size: 0.55" Resolution: 1280x720 Contrast: 1500:1 Replaces HD2. Smaller size. Designed for high volume, low-cost production. Incremental improvements: DarkChip2, SmoothPicture Samsung 2004 base models are the first ones to use this chip.
Samsung higher end models (pedestal 50", 56" and tantus 46", 56"), Panasonic DLP, New model from Optoma,Toshiba, Mitsubishi.
xHD3 Chip size: 0.9" Resolution: 1920x1080 Contrast: 5000:1 Dynamic Black, DarkChip2, SmoothPicture Demonstrated on a Samsung set. Delivery targeted for later part of 2004/early 2005.
The new chips also use a new 7-segment color wheel.
6-Segment vs. 7-Segment color wheels: The extra segment is a green segment meant to improve rendering in dark areas.
