Have just recently purchased the sony dav-s300 av system.I knew when I got it that I more than likely would had a power sub. but can only get low volume on rear speakers. How can I upgrade them. without costing a arm and a leg..The system is great on dvd.. tuner. can onlt get pro-logic on tv. If anyone can give me some useful tips on getting the most that I can.. I would be very thankful

My advice to you is to go to Radio Shack and purchase an analog sound pressure level meter. Make sure to get the analog version as it is better. You can learn how to use it by purchasing almost any kind of Home Theater setup DVD, such as Video Essentials or Avia Guide to Home Theater. I am sure that the speakers that you have are fine and by using a setup DVD you will be able to get the most out of your whole system. The setup DVD will cost at most about $50.00 and is a worthwhile investment. The sound pressure level meter is only about $25.00 and is a must have. This will be well under the cost of getting new speakers.
This is to request help in upgrading my home audio system and have a number of questions. I currently have: 1) Pioneer audio/video receiver vsx3800 purchased in 1992 2) Pioneer CD player pd-m450 purchased in 1992 3) memorex VCR model49 purchased in 1992 4) Two Cerwin-Vega speaker purchased in 1992
I am going to purchase: 1) Toshiba Dvd player sd6200 2) Hitachi Hdtv 43FDX01b
My questions are: A) The vsx3800 has a defect in the left A and B connection. When plugged to a speaker the sound comes out cracking. Is is worth while to have this repaired or should I buy a new unit?
B) To what current model pioneer audio/video receiver is the vsx3800 comparable to? C) If I keep the vsx3800, how can I adapt the system to incorporate a center speaker and a sub-woofer.
Thank you in advance for any and all advice I receive. I am a novice in this area. Any other suggestions for unasked questions would also be apreciated.
