Sorry if this is a silly question, I just want to know for sure and the owenr's manual did not have the answer.

I need 2 bookshelf speakers for stereo sound in a room. The speakers I like in my price range stand vertical (portrait). They won't fit on my bookshelf unless I flip them sideways (landscape). Is there an issue with doing that? Are speakers designed to only work in one direction?

These are the speakers I'm looking at that I'd like to flip:

If I have to use speakers that come in landscape mode already, these are the only ones I could find that would fit:

Thanks for any help!

Speakers sound better standing up, but if you don't mind the sound, I would go ahead and enjoy them side ways. The Bose is not as good a speaker, so you want to shy away from them.

If you put them on a stand vertically, they sound better than on a book shelf.

Also, there are better speakers out there for a little more money, if you go to a specialty shop. Also, if you don't mind them used, you can get a different level speakers for not much more.
Speakers like paradigm, psb, and NHT will out perform polks any day.

Paradigm studios are one of the best speakers for the money, and if you don't mind used, you can get them here:
