we are having fits trying to get our 55 inch toshiba led tv, sony blu-ray player, home theater system and dish network receiver all hooked up. the sound will NOT cooperate. we have an hdmi cable hooked up. sounds ok.... turn on the home theater and all of a sudden crazy things happen. audio is out of sync between the tv and the sound system. both sound fine when alone, but with them both on, they are out of sync. we have ordered an optical cable, but dont have it yet. will that take care of our problem? please help!!!! we are soooooo frustrated!!!!!
If you have a home theater system, you should not use TV speakers at all for a number of reasons. The sound will be out of sync because sound will either reach the receiver before the TV or visa versa depending on your set up. The speakers in your TV will not blend well with your HT speakers because the HT (home theater) speakers should be of higher quality than those in your TV and therefore have dome, horn or other type of tweeters. Your TV has single driver speakers with means your highs will come through cone drivers in the TV. In an HT system, all speakers need to have the same type of tweeter. Also, you are mixing low fi with hi fi. Stick with the hi fi of your HT system.
Plymouth, this person is talking about sound being out of sync between the TV speakers and the TV system. A problem best and easily resolved by turning off the TV's sound. No mention of sound & picture being out of sync.
