Hello, I'm not to familiar with home theater equipment. I recently purchased a Samsung HT-BD1250 and decided, after about two days, to return it. The issue was that when the video on the TV would come up, the sound would come on about 5-6 seconds later. I was using an optical cable. The issue was that the receiver didn't have HDMI and thus delayed the signal... yada yada...
Here is my gear: LG55LH85 Motorola FIOS Set Top Box Wii XBox 360
I'd like to use HDMI for everything (where applicable)
What is a good, relatively modest priced receiver that will handle all HDMI inputs and cause no video/audio delays. Thank you.
PS. I'm a system administrator so I know my way around computers and i'm pretty tech savvy. I just never got into the A/V gear. As far as troubleshooting and setting things up I can handle that pretty well. Thats why I wasn't satisfied with the HTIB, I guess you get what you pay for. BTW Samsung blamed the STB for the slow audio, but my understanding is that the HTIB was way underpowered and didn't switch signals fast enough, also I had to use optical instead of HDMI because it didn't have HDMI in.
You can start your shopping at a place like Best Buy (don't buy from them though) and see if there is anything you like to listen to as well as the controls making sense. Look for name brand receivers (Onkyo, Denon, Pioneer, but I can't recommend Sony) with most of them in the mid price range these days easily conforming to your HDMI wishes.
