Receiver HK AVR310 DVD Samsung P421 (no hdmi port) Also have comcast cable with Motorola digital tv receiver. The salesman at Best Buy told me I need a new dvd player for the best picture quality. Any help getting everything hooked up today would be really appreciated! Dan |

The cable box will be similar in that you can either run HDMI or component video to the TV and digital audio to the receiver. Get all of your cabling from: www.monoprice.com |

The dvd player has video out (yellow cable)/S-video out or component video out. Use component? yes, with standard DVD you won't get any better picture than you can with component video cables |

Silver Member Username: JrbayLivonia [Detroit area], Michigan USA Post Number: 863 Registered: Feb-08 | I am sorry Dan, I made an error and may be leading you down the wrong path because there is no audio connection from the TV to the receiver as is suggested above. The audio from both the cable box and the DVD will go to the receiver and the video from both units will go directly to the TV. So the answer to your latest question is that If you start from scratch you will need 4 cables: One 1 HDMI (from cable box HDMI out to TV HDMI in) Two 2 Digital audio (optical) cables a. from cable box to receiver b. from DVD to receiver One 1 Component video (from DVD to TV) Sory for the confusion. I hope this helps |
