Using speaker wires for a powered sub

I recently moved into an older house which had been wired by the previous owner for a home theater. My Yamaha receiver has a RCA output for a powered sub which is fine since I have a Definitive powered sub The problem is that the cabling between the two locations is simple stereo cabling with banana plug receivers on either end. Due to the locations it is virtually impossible to change out the original stereo cabling. Is there any way I can convert the RCA to stereo cabling and back again?

Thanks.

It is entirely possible of course, just pick up some RCA jacks from Radio Shack or some store similar. The problem may come however with unwanted noises being picked up and transmitted to your sub. IT would be worth a try though if the wiring truly is difficult to rerun.

Does your sub have speaker level inputs? Just use those. I'm using this on my 2.1 system and it works just fine.
