The point 1 designates the sub as active (as opposed to a non-powered passive sub). The remaining 5 or 7 speakers are going to need an amplified signal. |

Its pretty obvious that they are only selling the speakers and nothing else. The receiver would be listed right along with the speakers if the packages came with one. You would not have to figure it out. Yes you would need a receiver to go along with the packages you are looking at as speakers are not much good without one. You can get what is called a Home Theater in a Box if you want everything in one package but that is not what you are looking at right now. |
