Mike | I just purchased a new home that was prewired for surround sound. Right now, there are bundled wires in the drywall covered with an outlet plate. The wire is not long enough to reach my receiver and/or speakers directly...what's the best way to connect them? |
Derek | I've used this http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F007%5F002%5F008%5F000&product%5Fid=40%2D992 or http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&User_ID=14088186&St=6126&St2=-55154136&St3=54986648&DS_ID=3&Product_ID=5918&DID=7 for my Mains and Surrounds. You then use four short runs of speaker wire with banana plugs from your receiver to the wall plate. Hope that helps. |
Mike | With this configuration, how does the prewiring connect to the back of the wall plate? Soldering, crimping, just clipping in (like the back of a speaker?)? Is there speaker wire available with banana plugs or do I have to rig this up myself? |
