Problem: Projector connected via Component jack to Amp does not display picure where video input is via HDMI

Setup: HD Sat. Box (Sky+ HD) connected to Yamaha DSP-AX761 via HDMI (Component jack on Sky Box taken up by secondary TV). Primary TV connected via HDMI (only one HDMY out jack on Amp.). Yamaha owner manual notes that digital video input through HDMI cannot be output through analog video jack and that unit does not accept analog component video signal with 1080p resolution (which is another the reason I am reluctant to connect Sky Box via component cable).

Is there any workaround that would allow me to project HD video without significant degrading?

This is a bit confusing, are you saying there are 2 TV's and a projector all run off of your sky box or is the "primary TV" the projector?

the primary TV is connected through HDMI out from Amp. The secondary TV is connected through component straight from Sat Box. The projector is currently connected through component to Amp (monitor jack). It is the projector connection that does not work.

AH HA then in effect you have three TV's on the Sky box. If you buy an HDMI powered splitter such as this 1x2 box:

it would solve your immediate problem but perhaps a 1x4 box would be better if your 3rd TV has HDMI capability or for future applications:

Moving in the right direction. Problem is that Projector cable (embedded in the walls) is component rather than HDMI (also I hear that HDMI does not work well if over 5m length). Does a similar splitter exist for component output jack? I guess if I connect projector directly to Sat. Box I would have to run an audio only cable for the sound to the Amp?

The powered HDMI splitter would take care of the cable length issue but if you can not run an HDMI to your projector then splitting a the component out of the sky box:

and, as you say, running audio separately to the receiver will work.
