If I'm sitting say 10-11ft from the screen which puts me right up on back wall;and taking into consideration that the room is 9ft wide, where should I place the surround speakers. At the moment they are either side of me about 3ft above ear level pointing slightly towards the back wall. The left speaker is closest to me.It sounds o.k but was wondering if this is the best I can do!

I don't know if there are Fry's Electronics around your place, they are selling Polk 500 (or something) model for 99 each. They look BEAUTIFUL and I demo the sound quality - GREAT!

typically it is recommended that ALL speakers are at ear level pointing at your ears, you could also add an externally mounted tweeter to point at forward, this will balance out the room if you cannot always sit dead center.
