I have been to stores and listed to some but its not easy to know which will sound best when it comes to my house. My budget is about 350-400. i know it is not the highest but this is all i have to work with. I would really appreciate any advice i can get. I am also planning to buy a 52 inch LCD tv...any suggestions? i don't want to spend over 1400 for that...is it possible? Any suggestions? My room is about 12feet by 15feet (estimate). The tv will go in the center of the room and its a rectangular room. thanks |

You are absolutely correct in that it is extremely difficult to know exactly what it will sound like in your house but how critical are you going to be at a $400.00 price point? To give you a little more focus when shopping I would suggest that if what you hear in the store is pleasing enough the factors then become the look and feel meaning that the controls/remote make sense and are easy to use. One suggestion: Onkyo HT-S5100 7.1 Channel Home Entertainment System Regarding the TV you should be able to find several models from several manufacturers at your price point, that then would also boil down to look and feel issues. |

Anyway I think you are going to have a little trouble finding a 50+ LCD for that kind of money, except maybe for a refurb unit. You can get big bang for the buck with plasma. Best Buy is running a sale on their Insignia NS-PDP50HD-09 for $1199.99. Consumer Reports gave the Insignia NS-PDP50 (a 720 display) a "Best Buy", for what that's worth. Go to the Best Buy site and punch in the model number. As for the HTiB, I would look at the Sony HT-7200DH. It comes with a decent separate DVD player and features a real receiver -- you know, with inputs and outputs and stuff. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/550551-REG/Sony_HT_7200DH_HT_7200DH_Home_T heater_System.html And you can do a model search on the Sony site: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=1055 1&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665361563 |

Both these sets could use a subwoofer, but you can get along just fine until you can add one later. |
