Surround Sound With 4 Speakers?

Currently, I have 2 Front speakers, and 2 Rear Speakers are on the way. Will i get anything out of this (will most receivers be able to recognize only 4 speakers)? I have a JVC RX8040B receiver.

You should be able to tell the receiver that you have no center channel and it will split the center channel signal between the two fronts. I ran my stuff like that for a long time before I finally got a center speaker.

Most A/V receivers have a center channel setting called "Phantom" mode. Set it to that and the dialog will be split between the two fronts.

Under "Quick Speaker Setup" all needs to be done is to dial in via the receiver's multi jog 4.0 CH. This yields Main: Large Center: None Surround: Small Surr. Back: None Subwfer: No Obviously, Bill would have to change this setting if he adds more speakers.
