Hi,

I am going to receive TX-SR501 from ecost.com soon.

http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/detail.asp?action=detail&dpno=157373#scroll

Could you please advise if I can use TX-SR501 with Onkyo 6.1 channel home theater speaker SKSHT510 as mentioned above?

Alternatively, I am looking for smaller size system to use with TX-S501. Any ideas about brand and model?

Thank you so much.

Andy:

You have not given a budget, but you cannot do better that the speaker system I have copied the link for from One Call:

http://ww2.onecall.com/PID_18153.htm

It will sound much better than the Onkyo speakers, and if you want a sixth speaker, just buy an extra NHT SuperZero from One Call--they are offered individually.

Hi Hawk,

Thank you for your information. May I assume this NHT package work with the specs of TX-SR501 which has only 65W/ch?

A friend of mine told me about Klipsch speakers.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1051826208777&skuId=5378995&type=prod uct

Any comment or experience with Klipsch?

If I bring the system (Receiver and speakers) to Europe for use, any concern about frenquency differences(60Hz vs. 50Hz)? I know we need to use a step-down transformer.

Thanks!

The Orb Audio Mod1s are cool, small speakers and they are really efficient and loud. So, I think they would be a good choice, too, to match the specs of the 501. Their subwoofer is a step up from most of the smaller systems, and the satellites have really full, detailed sound.

Your Onkyo is probably no more than 30 wpc when driving five channels (the 65 wpc is only when driving two channels), but yeah, it should present no problem for the NHTs.

Beg to differ Hawk. Look on the Onkyo website. The 501 has 65 WPC in surround mode, 80 in stereo.

Get the Tannoy FX5.1 Speaker System and purchase an extra speaker for the 6th channel. Retail price is $699 and I think an extra sat is like $100. You can get it in either black or silver (titanium finish).

The NHT Super Audio system is awesome, however I think too "big" for the 65 Watt SR501. Kind of like the BMW parked out in front of the trailer park home.
