ok well i have a sharp tv with no audio outputs, and a 5.1 panasonic surround sound system and direct cable and was wondering if there is a way to get the sound hooked up so the tv audio comes out of the surround sound
The easiest solution is to use the tuner and the line outputs of a VCR to feed audio into the Panasonic. You would run the cable into the VCR and then out from there into the TV. Then connect the R/L outputs on the VCR to the inputs on the Panasonic. You would then select the channel you desire on the VCR and it would output the audio on that channel on its line outputs. Even a broken non-tape playing VCR would work. All you need is the electronics (tuner-demodulator) in it.
If you don't have access to a VCR, then what you need is an adaptor that would do the same job, and believe it or not, they don't exist.
Your other alternatives are 1. buy a new TV with audio line outputs on it or 2. rent a cablebox with audio outs on it.
