Hi,
I trying to setup a Home Theater system. I have gone through many threads and it is confusing more than helping a person like me :-) . May be I am too new to HT.

The one I liked so far is Onkyo HT-S790...everything in a box, But I am not sure whether its a best choice.

Should I take Onkyo TX-SR604 receiver separately and buy some better speakers than Onkyo Speaker. Is that a better choice? I heard in this forum that Polk/Infinity speakers are some of the best.
Is there any wireless speakers that I can think of for the 2 back speakers in my budget.

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

for 1000 dollars home theater in a box might be the right choice. i like Onkyo and use it myself i have the sr-804 but that is almost 1000 itself with no speakers. if you were to buy a separate reciever and then go and by speakers. you would have a hard time finding quality for your budget. i started off with a Onkyo home theater in a box and i liked it alot.

I think you can do beter than a HTIB for $1000. thry this Paradigm and Denon combo. http://paradigm.com/en/paradigm/rec-systems-10-1-2-2.paradigm# http://usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/3252.asp

I second Casey's opinion you can do MUCH better than a HTIB for $1000. The Denon, Pioneer VSX-816 (or 817 new model), Onkyo SR604, and many others, including used and refurbished receivers.

For speakers look at the Paradigms, AV123.com X-Series speakers and X-sub, hsuresearch.com, etc etc. Will be better than any HTIB.

If you must have HTIB look at the Onkyo THX system http://onkyousa.com/model.cfm?m=HT-S990THX&class=Systems&p=i

The first THX certified HTIB:

But I agree with you guys. With a little research and patience, a lot can be had for $1K.

A friend has Aperion and it is impressive. At $800, that doesn't leave much room for a decent receiver.
